Tasty macarons for beginners

Macarons can be challenging to make, as they require precision and attention to detail. The process of making macarons involves several steps, including grinding the almond flour and powdered sugar, whipping the egg whites. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites, and pipe the mixture.

Its both fun and exiting to make macarons and if you follow the instruction step by step you will get perfect macarons. You might need a little practise, but you will soon get a hang of it. 

Macarons step by step

Each of these steps must be done correctly for the macarons to turn out well. Additionally, the macarons require a specific baking time and temperature to achieve the perfect texture.

With practice and by following a recipe closely, it is possible to make delicious macarons at home. In summary, macarons are a delicate and finicky pastry that can be challenging to make, but with practice and attention to detail, you can make delicious macarons at home.

Ingredients: 

  • 200g powdered sugar
  • 110g almond flour
  • 110g powdered egg whites
  • food coloring (optional)
  • 75g granulated sugar

Directions:

  1. In a food processor, grind the powdered sugar and almond flour together until fine.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the powdered egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Slowly add the granulated sugar to the egg whites while beating, until the mixture becomes glossy and smooth.
  4. Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites. If desired, add food coloring at this stage.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
  6. Pipe small rounds of batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Let the macarons sit out at room temperature for 30 minutes to an hour to form a «skin» on top.
  8. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  9. Bake the macarons for about 15-20 minutes, or until the feet (the ruffled edges) are set and the macarons are no longer sticky to the touch.
  10. Let the macarons cool completely before filling with your desired filling (such as ganache or buttercream).
  11. Enjoy!

Some macaron recipes may have variations in ingredients and instructions. This recipe is a basic one, you can add variations like chocolate, coffee, or other flavors as you desire.
